Vi-Act
Virtual in Action: Fostering Virtual Learning Skills in Youth

“Vi-Act” is an ambitious Erasmus+ virtual exchange project connecting youth and youth workers across Europe and Africa through structured online learning experiences. Coordinated by Volonteurope (Belgium) and implemented in collaboration with five partner organizations—including EIVA (Romania)—the project is funded under the ERASMUS-EDU-2024-VIRT-EXCH call and will run over a period of 36 months.
Project Vision
The project addresses a pressing need: increasing young people’s digital skills and their ability to participate meaningfully in intercultural dialogue, especially in contexts where physical mobility is limited or inaccessible. Vi-Act is designed to offer innovative, inclusive, and replicable virtual exchange models that strengthen soft skills, intercultural understanding, and youth participation.
Key Objectives for Youth Development & Training
At the heart of the Vi-Act project lies a commitment to empowering young people and those who work with them. The project focuses on building critical digital, social, and intercultural competences that help youth thrive in a connected, global society.
Strengthen Digital Literacy & Participation
Vi-Act aims to equip over 3,000 young people with the digital skills and confidence needed to participate actively in online learning and civic dialogue. By engaging in structured virtual exchanges, youth will learn to navigate digital platforms safely and meaningfully.
Develop Soft Skills Through Intercultural Exchange
The project promotes communication, empathy, collaboration, and problem-solving through immersive, intercultural experiences. Youth from diverse backgrounds will interact, reflect, and create together—bridging cultural differences and building mutual understanding.
Train a New Generation of Youth Facilitators
More than 80 youth workers across Europe and Africa will be trained in high-quality digital facilitation. Drawing from the BAFA model and other experiential methods, the project boosts their capacity to lead inclusive, impactful virtual learning sessions.
Support Lifelong Learning & Youth Engagement
Each exchange model is designed to promote active citizenship and personal growth. Youth will explore topics such as identity, sustainability, equity, and social inclusion while reflecting on their role in their communities and across borders.
Leave Tools for the Future
By the end of the project, Vi-Act will deliver a complete Virtual Exchange Toolkit—a practical, tested guide for organizing virtual learning activities. This will support other organizations in replicating the project’s success and expanding its impact.
