A European Cooperation Project for Water Literacy and Youth Engagement

What Is Wateracy?

Wateracy is a European project that seeks to raise awareness among young people about water as a basic human right and to strengthen their role in civic and democratic life through environmental and digital education. The initiative is implemented through the Erasmus+ programme under Key Action 2 – Cooperation Partnerships in the field of Youth.

The project takes on an urgent and timely challenge: many young people are disconnected from decisions and conversations about water access, despite being directly affected by its scarcity, pollution, or privatisation. Through a series of educational tools and civic spaces, Wateracy aims to create meaningful learning experiences that help youth understand, engage with, and act on water-related issues in their communities.

Who is involved ?

The project is led by EIVA and supported by five partner associations with complementary set of expertise.

EIVA is an NGO based in Arad, Romania, actor at local, national and international level through European programs, especially Erasmus+ and the European Solidarity Corps. Our mission is to promote equal educational opportunities for disadvantaged and marginalized communities.

Cristian

Founder, president and project manager of EIVA with 13+ years of experience in Erasmus+ and ESC programs.

Anjely

Graphic designer, videographer, and youth worker with strong background in communication and non-formal education.

Roxana

Coordinator of the ESC program, responsible for visibility and dissemination of Erasmus+ projects.

Augustin

Web developer and trainer in charge of IT, with years of experience in non-formal education.

NAECO is the brainchild of filmmaker Franck Fougère, whose passion for capturing the beauty of nature and humanity has driven the creation of visually stunning, emotionally rich films.

Marie-Laurence

Originally from Corsica, ML left her island at 18 to explore Europe with a backpack and a scholarship.

Anaelle

A biologist by training, passionate kayaker and committed adventurer.

Volonteurope is a European, globally focused, non-profit network working to achieve more social justice in Europe and beyond, through social action, active citizenship, volunteering and foresight.

Piotr

Piotr has been Secretary General of Volonteurope since 2008.

Furkan

Writes grants. Creates spaces. For interruption. For imagining otherwise.

Marie

Marie is originally from Hamburg, Germany, and holds a B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Hamburg.

Clube Intercultural Europeu is a Lisbon-based non-profit association that has been active since 1998, working in the fields of youth, education, training, and employability.

Teresa

Between research and practice, I work with young people to co-create spaces where participation becomes power.

Carla

Carla Xavier is a psychologist and programme coordinator committed to transforming education into a driver of equity and opportunity.

NGO Trainers Association is a nationwide non-governmental organisation uniting more than 240 trainers and educators working in adult and young adults education for social change in Poland. sTOP has over 25 years of experience in training trainers and developing the qualifications of professional trainers.

Agnieszka

A trainer, researcher, and social activist, she is also a yogi.

Anna

Trainer, educator, and local activist. A graduate of the 9th STOP Training School.

CSV Lazio is a non profit and non governmental organization. It became the Service Centre for Volunteering by participating to a call for tender published by Regional Government of Latium. CSV Lazio operates in the whole Latium – the region of the Capital city.

Massimiliano

Massimiliano has been working for CSV Lazio for 15 years.

Ambassadors

The project is supported by Youth ambassadors who are voluntarily doing their best to ensure the project’s well-being.

Antoine

Antoine is a photographer specializing in nature photography on the island of Corsica, France. After studying visual arts and cinema, he's now working as a freelance photographer, focusing on night photography, aerial imagery, and near-infrared photography.

Alexandra

I'm Alexandra, driven by an insatiable curiosity and a burning desire to ignite positive change. You'll find me relentlessly hardworking, passionate, and dedicated, whether I'm deep in volunteer work or leading a youth club. My infectious optimism and unwavering determination fuel me.

I am a passionate and wholeheartedly dedicated person, motivated by a deep and genuine curiosity. With a strong interest in social sciences, I constantly seek to enrich my knowledge across as many fields as possible.

Marko

Hello! I am Kareta Marko, one of the ambassadors of Wateracy, student of Social Science and Social Psychology and a basketball couch. Wateracy brought me an opportunity to have a positive impact on the enviroment, so I am here to bring my perception and my creative way of thinking to shape and sharp other people perspective about one of the needs of human beeings: WATER. Hi, I'm Bruna. I'm 19 years old. I'm one of the ambassadors for the Wateracy project in Portugal, which led me to participate in this project. The areas of interculturality and intergenerationality are my inspiration. Fascinated by the social field, I intend to pursue my academic path in Social Work. I currently work at an association with children and young people.

Francisca

Hi, I’m Francisca Martins, 19 years old, and proudly representing Portugal as a Wateracy ambassador. What draws me to this initiative is the opportunity to deepen my understanding of water—its importance and the powerful memories it carries. I hold a qualification in Intercultural Mediation and work closely with children and young people, fostering connection and growth.

Mussa

I'm Mussa Sanha, 18, from Bissau, Guinea-Bissau. I'm passionate about learning and connecting across cultures. With a background in intercultural mediation, I’m proud to be an ambassador for the Wateracy project, where I promote water literacy and civic engagement. Through this role, I hope to help build informed communities that can lead sustainable change.

Antoni

Studying Tourism at Vistula University, youth leader from early teens, gastronomist by passion and experience. Through collaboration with NGO’s such as LOT “Lot nad Bugiem” and SLGD “Tygiel doliny Bugu” I've gained experience in conducting green workshops e.g. zero waste, renewable energy, local products and sustainable tourism. Student of life, Kaizen believer, fan of civil initiatives and grassroots efforts.

Filip

I believe the best way to understand a problem is through active observation and reflection. This approach has guided me for years, helping me identify root causes and find effective solutions. One of my key goals is to raise awareness and support the development of a more conscious world where humility and empathy toward others and the planet are valued more than numbers.

For future generations to live freely on our planet, we need to restore a sense of harmony with nature. It’s a two-way relationship—one that requires mutual respect, both among ourselves and toward the environment.

Hi! My name is Giulia, I’m 26 years old and I’m from Rome. I am currently finishing my studies in language sciences at Sapienza University with a master thesis in German literature. I feel very connected to nature and as soon as I’ve taken part to the Wateracy project in Arad I began being more aware of the importance of water and everything related to it.
