About the project
A European Cooperation Project for Water Literacy and Youth Engagement
Project Duration: March 2025 – March 2027
Project Code: KA220-YOU-38EE2543
Coordinated by: Asociația EIVA – ARAD (Romania)

What Is Wateracy?
Wateracy is a European project that seeks to raise awareness among young people about water as a basic human right and to strengthen their role in civic and democratic life through environmental and digital education. The initiative is implemented through the Erasmus+ programme under Key Action 2 – Cooperation Partnerships in the field of Youth.
The project takes on an urgent and timely challenge: many young people are disconnected from decisions and conversations about water access, despite being directly affected by its scarcity, pollution, or privatisation. Through a series of educational tools and civic spaces, Wateracy aims to create meaningful learning experiences that help youth understand, engage with, and act on water-related issues in their communities.
Project Objectives
Wateracy directly supports three key Erasmus+ priorities in the youth field:
- Environmental awareness: building water literacy and encouraging responsible use of water resources
- Participation in democratic life: empowering young people to shape policy and take part in youth-led assemblies
- Inclusion and diversity: making sure young people from marginalised or underrepresented groups are actively involved

What Will Be Developed
Over the course of the project, the consortium will co-create a set of resources and activities that promote civic engagement through the theme of water:
- Wateracy Toolkit – a practical guide with non-formal educational methods on water and citizenship
- Training Curriculum for Youth Workers – focused on how to educate young people using participatory, digital, and environmental approaches
- Youth Assemblies – national-level workshops where young people will reflect on water issues and formulate concrete proposals
- Policy Recommendation Paper – summarising youth input, developed collaboratively with partner organisations and young people
All resources will be open-access and available in multiple languages through a central landing page.
Who’s Involved?
Wateracy is led by Asociația EIVA – ARAD (Romania) and supported by five partner organisations with complementary expertise:
